Our Pricing
As you customize our jewelry with our patent-pending drag and drop technology, you'll notice that pricing for a particular item varies a great deal. There are several factors that influence the price of a ring, earring or pendant:
- Gold weight measured in grams, affects the price of a jewelry item significantly. The higher the number of grams of gold, the finer the jewel and the more expensive. A more weighty jewelry piece is an heirloom as well as an investment due to the intrinsic value of the gold itself.
- Gemstone size measured in millimeters, affects the overall price of a jewelry item. The larger the gemstone size, the bolder and more expensive the jewel. Larger gemstones are harder to find and therefore command higher prices. They also make the most dramatic statement.
- Gemstone rarity will also influence the price of a jewelry item greatly. The rarity of a gemstone, influenced by its mining difficulty and availability, is reflected in its supply and demand. When the supply of a gem is low, the price of the gemstone is higher. When the supply of a gemstone is high, the price of the gemstone is lower. Below is pricing chart for our gems:
- Most expensive: diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire (pink, yellow, blue and white), tanzanite
- Mid-priced: aquamarine, opal, fire opal, tourmaline, iolite, rhodolite
- Least expensive: amethyst, garnet, citrine, peridot, smoky quartz, topaz (swiss and london blue), pearl
An earring, pendant or ring set with amethyst, while as beautiful when set with an emerald, is much less expensive because of the abundance of amethyst relative to emerald.
- Gemstone quality as outlined here, also affects the price. A higher quality stone, such as a AA is more valuable and expensive than the A quality in the same gemstone. We have carefully selected quality gemstones of value - those with the best quality to price ratio. Our gemstone quality is better than our competitors. Many jewelers use lower quality gemstones to reduce the price of their jewels. We have gotten the balance right - the right price with the best quality stone.
- Diamonds measured in carats, greatly affect the price of jewelry. Since diamonds are more expensive per carat than other gemstones, jewelry pieces that are pre-set with diamonds will be more expensive than those without.
Look for the gold weight, the gemstone size, the diamond weight listed for every item. The quality of each gemstone is listed here.
The five factors above explain the difference in pricing within the same jewelry piece and between different jewelry pieces. For instance, imagine two rings, both set with the same gemstone, an 8x6 oval amethyst, where one ring is priced higher than the other. The more expensive ring will likely be heavier and/or set with diamonds. As another example, a pedant set with a lovely inky iolite is less expensive than the same pendant set with a lilac colored tanzanite because a tanzanite is more rare than the iolite.
